Investing in teachers and students

The CHS Foundation will award up to $50,000 to help teachers to implement a project at their school that will engage students in experiential agricultural education. We know teachers have big ideas we want to help bring those to life for students in rural communities.

Eligibility

Who can apply?

Program is open to ag education projects in the CHS trade territory (Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.)

Applications must be submitted by the teacher or school administrator who is responsible for implementing an agricultural education-based project in a classroom.

How do I apply?
Applications are accepted online from July 15 to Sept. 1. Please submit the , along with a video submission. Videos should be less than 2 minutes long and uploaded to YouTube.  for a link to a tutorial. These videos do not need to be professional quality, a cell phone quality video is perfectly fine. Be creative and use your video to tell us about your project and how it will help your classroom, students and community! We want to get to know you, the project and your passion for educating the next generation.
How many grants will be awarded?

Up to $50,000 awarded:

  • $20,000 first prize
  • $15,000 second prize
  • $10,000 third prize
  • Two, $2,500 honorable mentions
How are applications evaluated?

Priority will be given to ag education programs in communities where CHS or our member cooperatives are located. Examples of projects that will be considered include school farms, learning labs, equipment upgrades, projects that incorporate multiple grade levels and more.

A review committee will select the top 5 submissions. The top three finalists will travel all expenses paid to the CHS Annual Meeting Dec. 4-5, 2025 where CHS annual meeting attendees will award first, second, and third place winners through live voting.

What is not supported?
  • General operating support; funds must be directed to a specific project
  • Travel to contests or conventions
  • Teacher travel or certifications like CASE
  • Student fundraisers
  • Youth sports
  • Event sponsorships (I.e. community days, golf tournaments, etc.)
  • Scholarship programs
  • Multi-year funding
  • Individuals or individual needs or fundraisers
  • Organizations outside the specified states above
